Reserve Bank of India has authorized few branches of each authorized dealer bank to conduct the business under portfolio investment scheme on behalf of NRIs.

Documents required to open NRI/PIO/OCI trading account:
Maximum investment per NRI in paid-up capital/value of debentures of listed Indian companies
Total investment by all NRIs cannot exceed 10% of paid-up capital
Can be raised to 24% if company passes special resolution
Sale proceeds (net of taxes) may be credited to NRE/FCNR(B)/NRO accounts
Sale proceeds can be credited only to NRO accounts
